Week 4 of Senior Projects

  • Before I get into my review of the project, I learned even more about the building that is interesting. I had always known that there was a room that is underneath the sidewalk but the door was locked so I figured I wasn't supposed to go back there. Luckily my coworker was there to sway me in a different direction. By using my ID, I was able to unlock the door and peak my head into the room. I got a few pictures of the area but everything kind of looks the same so hopefully one should suffice. Secondly, I found out the downstairs bathroom was used as the shooting range of the firehouse that I mentioned in last weeks post. I have photos that I have taken for this week but my computer is being a pain. I put all of them into a google doc and posted the link at the very bottom if you want to see.

Another interesting thing about the office is the pinball machines. One of the partners is a pinball nut and has a whole bunch of pinball machines at his house so he brought a couple in that employees are able to play. I would think this is amazing if I didn't work in the basement, wish whereto pinball machines are located. They are SO loud. It is damn near impossible to work while hearing DING DING DING every couple seconds. I refuse to torture the other people on my floor by playing this but it is unique to our office.

Overall, this senior project was interesting. I don't necessarily think I got a lot out of it beyond experience and "people skills" which will undoubtedly be useful later on. Just waking up, going to work, putting my head down and working gave me a taste of how work will likely look later on. I also said early on that it was improving my conflict solving skills with upset clients. This has continued to improve throughout my time at the law firm.

I would definitely recommend this type of senior project to someone but I think there are many other things that someone could do that gives either them or someone else a lot more satisfaction. I didn't necessarily choose a project that incorporated something that I am really interested in or something that I think is a major problem. I chose a very safe project that I had done before. Other people could use this as an opportunity to do something that they would never have an opportunity to dont.

  1. Hi Milo. Thanks for sharing your reflections of your senior project. I know that a few times you mentioned you didn't feel that you did or learned much during this process. I think you have learned invaluable people skills to aid you in the business that you will own and run in the future.
