Week 4 of Senior Projects

Before I get into my review of the project, I learned even more about the building that is interesting. I had always known that there was a room that is underneath the sidewalk but the door was locked so I figured I wasn't supposed to go back there. Luckily my coworker was there to sway me in a different direction. By using my ID, I was able to unlock the door and peak my head into the room. I got a few pictures of the area but everything kind of looks the same so hopefully one should suffice. Secondly, I found out the downstairs bathroom was used as the shooting range of the firehouse that I mentioned in last weeks post. I have photos that I have taken for this week but my computer is being a pain. I put all of them into a google doc and posted the link at the very bottom if you want to see. Another interesting thing about the office is the pinball machines. One of the partners is a pinball nut and has a whole bunch of pinball machines at his house so he brought a couple in that e...

Week 3:  Tell a story about a happy/challenging/funny/meaningful moment from the week What have you learned? Reflection on progress towards goals from week 1 Questions you have 1-2 images/photos Respond to a comment from last week This week had one incident that stood out in particular. I took a call last week that resulted in a client claiming that we were a Ponzi scheme. The law firm recently changed names from "Schneider Kerr & Robichaux Law Offices" to "Kerr Robichaux & Carroll Law Offices." Although this slight change doesn't seem like much, the client disagreed. It wasn't really entertaining beyond that but I just thought it was funny that the client somehow thought the exact same number he had been calling since he started his case with a slightly different name attached was reason enough that we were a Ponzi scheme. So far, I have been able to learn a few things through learning at the law firm. Firstly, like I said last week, my people sk...

Week 2 of Senior Projects

This week was pretty good overall. The days seemed to go by much faster because I didn't need to learn anything new. I could just throw on a pair of headphones and zone out while I did my work. I have a  funny-ish moment that I can share but this week was pretty uneventful overall.  I completely failed in every way while getting the mail on Tuesday. To start off the day, I had a horrible headache. I hadn't had anywhere near enough water the day before and hadn't had any coffee yet. Regardless, I had a fifteen minute walk ahead of me. I grabbed the mail bin, grabbed a key fob, and started walking. When I got to the post office, I walked over to the PO box and reached in my pocket for the key, but it wasn't there. I had forgotten it at the office and had to walk back to get it. Luckily the second time worked but the failure didn't end there. As I sat down I realized I had lost my wallet and was forced to retrace my steps during my lunch break. Once again, I got lucky ...

Week 1 of Senior Projects

Blog #1: Hey there! For my 2021 senior project I decided to continue my work at Schneider Kerr & Robichaux law offices. I have worked there since my freshman summer and have enjoyed every second of it. I keep coming back every year for a few reasons. Firstly, most of the people within the office are super cool. While there, I work in the basement of the building and get to interact regularly with two of my favorite people (Alex and Eron) who also work in the basement. Each year I get an opportunity to learn more about the each of them and their lives, and I am able to learn quite a bit from them. All three of us grew up very differently and it allows us to bring drastically different experiences into situations and discuss/debate/occasionally argue about literally anything.  I also think that working in a law firm provides a lot of professional experience. At this point, I am planning on going into business and most jobs involving "business" take place in an office settin...
